The Christmas handicap last Saturday held many surprises. In the Boys' and Youths' events over 2½ miles, newcomer, A. Howard (30 secs.) won this event in 14 mins. 48 secs, and even beat the youth, being in classification, still a boy. Second was Gregory (1 min. 30 secs.) and third J. Howard (1 min. 45 secs.). The traditional prizes donated by club members were distributed by Mr. W. Brookes, club president, and it was encouraging to see so many vice-presidents actively engaged in arrangements for the afternoon's sport.
