On Saturday the above club held their Christmas Handicap over a course of about five miles. The handicap was framed with A. G. Nicholson and E. Plant as scratch, and the starts ran out to seven minutes. Plant, however, was a non-starter. There was a very good muster of runners and some keen racing resulted. The first man to arrive was P. Scott (2min.), who won easily. He was followed by A. G. Scoins (4.20) with T. Hughes (3.30) third. Scott ran a remarkably fine race, and is indeed an acquisition to the club. A. G. Scoins, who is one this year's novices, did well to finish second, and will improve, while Hughes well deserved the third place, as he has put in a good deal of hard work this year. The fastest time was done by R. Young, who finished fifth in 28min. 46sec. Mr. Vice-President Bale gave a special prize to the first novice to arrive, which was awarded to A. G. Scoins. A very enjoyable smoker was held in the evening when the prizes were distributed.
