Starting from the Ullswater Pier at Glenridding and began with a beautiful half hour cruise aboard the Ullswater Steamer "Raven", taking the runners to the start in the hamlet of Howtown. The 10km Ullswater Trail Run followed well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways along the lake shore and gave panoramic views of Helvellyn and the surrounding peaks and finished in Jenkins Field, next to the Ullswater Pier. Much of the course passed through ancient woodland showing the Lake District off at its autumnal best. Phil Cuthbert was 21st in the race in 45 minutes dead. Steve Armstrong and Kareen Porschke accompanied him finishing in 55:56 and 01:15 respectively.
