The 8,000-plus foot tall volcano that makes up the island of La Palma was the scene for the Transvulcania Ultra Marathon, a dose of big climbs, rocky descents, and exposed contours around the caldera rim also had a of heat for the 2013 race. Richard Webster was amongst the 982 finishers completing the course in 12 hours 33 minutes for 356th place.
