Richard Webster showed his strength as an ultra runner by completing the 100 mile Ultima Frontera in Poniente Granadino, Loja, Andalucia, Spain finishing in 8th place. Richard said after the race "I was pleased to get a time of 19 hours 50 minutes, the course was a hilly with over 5000 meters of climb and a mixture of technical trail and tracks... sore legs today!". The Poniente de Granada is known as the Last Frontier of Moorish Iberia, historically referred to as Al Andalus. The Christian conquest of these lands in the 1480's saw the fall of the Nazarine Kingdom of Granada, and consequent fall of Muslim domination in the Iberian Peninsular. The Ultima Frontera 160 route takes you through a number of the fortified towns which made up this final line of defence.
