16 Wallasey A.C. athletes completed the Liverpool Marathon. The course which started in Birkenhead Park and then headed to New Brighton, through the Birkenhead Tunnel into Liverpool city centre and then Sefton Park and Princes Park before returning to Liverpool City Centre for the finish. Several runners made their marathon debuts including Vicky Kehoe, Sallie Holt , Julie Barbat and Vicky McConnell, all the runners did extremely well. Richard Webster was first home in an excellent 28th place and 3rd in his age category breaking the 3 hour mark, Colin Palmer was in next and set a personal best of 3:06 for 56th place a great effort. Ian Dickson, Nick Holt, Mike Green and Mike Griffiths all achieved personal bests. Wallasey AC also helped make the event a success by manning a drinks station at 9 miles, handing refreshments to over 5000 runners and the club also provided some of the key officials, Dave Walton and Pat Riley also helped out with the lead bikes.
