Wallasey met at the Club at 9 a.m. to limit the number of cars going to Helsby, which would enable us to park closer to the start of the race. Nine members travelled in two cars, seven runners taking part. First in was Joe Johnson, just outside the top 100 with a personal best of 1:24:21, followed by Richard Saunders, finishing inside the first 200 with another personal best of 1:28:02. Next came Mike Griffiths 1:41:31, taking 23 minutes off his previous personal best, then Les Pullin 1:42:22, Ken Hilton 1:44:18, Rachel Saunders 1:49:27 (personal best) and Ian McConnell 1:58:10. Many thanks to Mike and Richard for driving, Ken for his information regarding the application of ' Deep Heat ' and the final personal best of the day belongs to Gill Pullin for the excellent soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee.
