Borders League



Race 1 - Shotton - 16/11/2003 - Seniors


Bob Brimage led Wallasey AC men's team home at the first Borders League race of 2003-2004. Bob finished in 38th place and the team finished in third place in division two, other counters for the men were Arthur Wilson (46th), Joe Johnson (73rd), Dave Walton (79th), John Cottrell (87th), Tony Barbat (88th), John Godwin (101st), Pat Riley (112th), Ken Hilton (137th) and Pete McArdle (138th), The ladies finished in second place in division two and the counters were Danielle Osler (11th), Anne Brimage (37th) and Sue Barraclough (44th).

Race 2 - Mold - 30/11/2003 - Seniors


First home for the club in the second Borders League race was Phil Cuthbert in 29th place, the men's team finished in 3rd place in division two and the other counters were Bob Brimage (49th), Arthur Wilson (60th), John Cottrell (76th), Joe Johnson (92nd), Dave Walton (96th), Tony Barbat (109th), John Godwin (153rd), Pete McArdle (154th), John Tatham (155th) and Stan Williams (165th). The ladies also finished in third place in division two and the counters were Nicci Davies (21st), Anne Brimage (39th) and Julie Barbat (48th).

Race 3 - Tattenhall - 14/12/2003 - Seniors


Phil Cuthbert led Wallasey AC men's team home at the third Borders League race of 2003-2004. Phil finished in 20th place and covered the 6.1 mile course in 36:09. This helped the team finish in second place in division two and hopeful of promotion. Other counters were Arthur Wilson (54th), John Cottrell (56th), Dave Walton (72nd), Tony Barbat (76th), Joe Johnson (87th), John Tatham (148th), Dave Godwin (152nd), Pete McArdle (158th) and Rolf Westrum (168th). The ladies finished in second place in division two and also had hopes to move up to the first division. Counters for the ladies were Nicci Davies (26th), Anne Brimage (32nd) and Sue Barraclough (38th).

Race 4 - Birkenhead - 08/02/2004 - Seniors


Wallasey AC organised race 4 of the Borders League series at Birkenhead Park. Arthur Wilson led the men's team home finishing in 45th place covering the 5 mile course in 30:35. The men's team came third in division two and the other counters were Tony Barbat (47th), John Cottrell (53rd), Dave Walton (70th), Joe Johnson (72nd), Pat Riley (106th), John Tatham (131st), John Godwin (145th), Pete McArdle (148th) and Mike Belcher (150th). Nicci Davies showed the ladies the way with a 27th place finish, the other counter was Anne Brimage (35th) the ladies failed to close a team and came fourth.

Race 5 - Helsby - 29/02/2004 - Seniors


First man home for the club at the fifth Borders League race at Helsby was Phil Cuthbert in 25th place, Phil led the men's team to a second place finish. Other counters were Arthur Wilson (41st), Tony Barbat (42nd), John Cottrell (58th), Bob Brimage (72nd), Dave Walton (76th), Joe Johnson (78th), Alan Johnson (112th), Pat Riley (124th) and Mike Belcher (158th). The ladies counters were Nicci Davies (30th), Anne Brimage (41st) and Julie Barbat (52nd). The ladies also finished in second place and both teams are hopeful for promotion to the top flight.

Race 6 - Hoylake - 28/03/2004 - Seniors


The men's and ladies' teams both consolidated their promotion positions with second place finishes at the penultimate Borders League fixture at Hoylake. Counters for the men were Tony Barbat (25th), Phil Cuthbert (34th), Arthur Wilson (38th), Bob Brimage (59th), John Cottrell (61st), Joe Johnson (62nd), Pat Riley (89th), Alan Johnson (90th), Dave Godwin (113th) and John Tatham (126th). For the ladies Nicci Davies (21st), Anne Brimage (33rd) and Julie Barbat (42nd) all counted.

Race 7 - Wrexham - 07/05/2004 - Seniors


Wallasey AC's runners achieved a double promotion from division two as both ladies' and men's teams finished second and second overall to move into the top tier. Mike Stanley led the men home in an excellent eighth place, other counters for the men were Phil Cuthbert (44th), Bob Brimage (47th), Arthur Wilson (61st), John Cottrell (67th), Joe Johnson (71st), Dave Walton (106th), Pat Riley (120th), Mike Grimes (132nd) and Dave Godwin (159th). Ladies counters were Nicci Davies (23rd), Anne Brimage (34th) and Louise Merivale (40th).
