In fine cold weather at Court Hey, Broadgreen, last Saturday, Wallasey Athletic Club (73 pts.) found the opposition of Liverpool University (38 pts.) and Liverpool Pembroke (25 pts.) to strong for them, and had to be content with third place in the triangular Match over 7 miles won by the home team.
Several stretches of frozen plough upset some of the Wallasey men, including club champion Arnold Dinsdale (14), whose ankle let him down again, so that club captain Eric Foster (7) who is currently content to be seeded No. 3 of W.A.C. seniors, found himself leading his team home. Other finishers who scored for W.A.C. were Denis Dickinson (9), R. McCaig (21) and C. R. Hewson (22).
Over 3 miles W.A.C. youths made a close race of it but were beaten by 17 points to 21, Wallasey's counting four being Weir (3), Haddock (5), Whiteburn (6) and Ledward (7).
For this afternoon's Liverpool & District Cross-Country Union championships at Woolton, W.A.C. meet at Liverpool Landing Stage; youths at 1.30 p.m. and seniors and juniors. at 2 p.m. No. 5 or 73 Corporation bus or 121 Crosville bus to Woolton Village.
