The cold drizzle which chilled Wallasey Athletic Club runners last Saturday afternoon at Leasowe did not deter Arnold Dinsdale, who returned an improved time of 42 mins. 48 secs. for the 7 mile course.
He was closely followed by Bob Johnston (43 mins. 1 secs.) who was on leave from the R.A.F., with Eric Foster third in 44 mins. 52 secs. The novices covered 5 miles and on this occasion Alan Whitburn (32 mins. 52 secs.) had to concede first place to Ken Ledward (32 mins. 40 secs.) with Ramsey Hewson a close third (33 mins.)
As detailed last week, Wallasey's two teams for the West Lancs. Novice Championships this afternoon at West Derby will meet at Liverpool Landing Stage at 1:45 p.m. The coach for Stockport next Saturday leaves Seacombe Ferry (Floating Roadway) at 12 noon prompt to be in time for the first of the Cheshire County Cross-Country Championship races, which will start at 2:30 p.m.
At Wallasey Grammar School on Wednesday, December 14th, at 7:30 p.m. D. C. V. Watts, A.A.A. coach, will deliver a 'General introduction to athletics' illustrated by loop films.
