There was a busy Christmas handicap programme on Merseyside last weekend. Curtis Robb was fastest in the Liverpool Harriers men's race at Wavertree but Dave Evans was first over the line. followed by Phil McGlory and Terry Nelson. Glen Groves was second fastest. The women's race was won by Lucy Rainey, followed by Laura Quine and Jenny Donnelly. Joanne Colleran was fastest. David Shaw won the boys' race followed by Chris Gough and Mike Phillips. Joe Michaelson was fastest from Ryan Armstrong. Gill Darby won the Liverpool Pembroke Sefton race at Croxteth Park and the Veteran of the Year Award. Her husband, Sam, was second and M5O runner Stan Cottier was third. Alan Woods was the fastest. David Bond won the two-and-a-half miles Wallasey AC race, from Peter Ellison, Steve Davies and brother Ally Bond. Club captain Mike Stanley (13 mins 48 secs) and Danielle Beattie (18:47) were fastest. Southport Waterloo stage their Christmas handicap on Sunday from Lifeboat Road car park, Formby, on Sunday (10.30 am). There is also an open 5k race at the same time.
