Wallasey (44 points) proved too strong for their Cheshire rivals Sale (72 points) at Victoria Park, Warrington in a 5½-mile cross-country match when Ron Barlow (Wallasey) beat his team-mate Brian Woolford by a second.
Warrington were third with 88 points.
