About 40 runners turned out for the Sutton Harriers' seven miles road race last week, the small field being accounted for by the clash with Blackpool's road relay, and a similar fixture in the Manchester area.
Brian Woolford, of Wallasey, who had set up the fastest time in the Sefton Park relay a week earlier, was the winner in 35 mins 42 secs. Woolford is steadily acquiring a reputation in this type of race on the road, and it cannot be long now before he breaks into big time. Eddie Williams, and Geoff Warriner, both of Pembroke came second and third.
Pembroke dominated the team race, the A and B teams taking both sets of prizes from Warrington and Sutton.
