Wallasey A.C. scored a dual success in the Liverpool Cross-Country League six-mile race at Leasowe on Saturday. In the team contest they beat League holders, Pembroke A.C., by seven points and also had the individual winner in John Wright, who, in a field of over 100 was 200 yards clear of the runner-up, John Jackson (Liverpool University).
The team result was remarkable because Wallasey's last counter was away down in 71st position! However, placing the other five in the first thirteen had sufficed.
Warrington A.C. members were prominent in minor events. Ian Broomfield was first home in a youths' three-mile race and in a two-mile contest for boys Warrington runners claimed the next four places behind the winner, Robin Vaughan (Boundary H.).
