
In his first attempt at the distance, Brian Woolford (Wallasey A.C.) was a surprise winner of the first annual fifteen-mile road race at Bebington on Saturday, promoted by Port Sunlight A.C.
Wallasey A.C. were easy winners of the team race. In addition to the individual winner they had Ron Barlow (fifth) and Kevin Mather, who has enjoyed several middle distance successes this summer, eighth, scoring 14 points. Wirral A.C. were second with 23 points and Pembroke A.C. third, 35 points.
