Some very good performances helped Wallasey Athletic Club to an overall finishing position of fourth in the third Northern League fixture at Wigan.
The best performance came from Phil Smith, first in the 100m (11.7); 200, (23.8) and anchored the 4 x 100 team to victory.
Phil Cuthbert, at 17-years-old finished second in the 3,000 metres steeplechase with an excellent time of 10:16. Mark Keeley in the 1500 recorded his best time of 4:20.3 with Paul Rowland just behind in 4:23.0.
Returning to competition after a lengthy layoff, Dave Pendleton and Rob Howarth competed well, Dave second in the long jump (5:70) and Rob producing good runs in the 100 and 200.
Bob and Alan Brimage competed well in the field events with Dave Walton and Jim Kerrigan running well in the 400 and 800 metres. Other good performances came from Paul Johnson 4 x 400; John Cottrell 5000 and Alan Johnson 400 hurdles and 110 hurdles.
