To-day the Wallasey Athletic club is taking part in the Lever Trophy contest, to be held at Port Sunlight Oval.
This trophy is awarded on the results of senior events only, but there are special trophies for the women's and junior teams.
Also to-day there is the Liverpool City marathon. The club is being represented in this event by J. Lynch and F. Ledward and as the Cheshire marathon championship is also incorporated, J. Lynch stands a good chance of gaining a place. This race finishes at the Liverpool F.C. ground at Anfield.
On Tuesday week. August 27th. there is an inter-club meeting run by Pilkington Recreation Club, St. Helens. The main attraction at this meeting, however, is the clash between Ibbotson and Wood, both 4-minute milers, in an invitation mile race. This could quite easily result in a new world grass track record, and will be well worth seeing.
