At the Roodee, Chester on Monday, P. B. White finished 4th in the 5-mile race round the racecourse.
This was an exceptionally good performance by this fine army runner and it shows just how fit one can keep in the army. D. B. White finished in 12th position and P. H. Townsend 21st. The unofficial team race against Southport fell through as only one Southport athlete ran.
In the 880 yards junior handicap C. L. Jones came 4th in his heat and thus qualified for the final.
Today, Saturday, there is an open athletics meeting at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay. This park has a fine natural running arena and one just starting to promote large meetings. This is just what is needed around Merseyside as there are hardly any scratch events.
Next Saturday the Lever Trophy is being contested for at Port Sunlight Oval and although we do not expect to win, we do expect to put up a really good show.
The club summer dance is being held at the Tower Ballroom next Friday, August 16 from 8 p.m. until midnight
