The Inter-County meeting at Kirkby, on July 20th brought some good performances but the presentation of the meeting was poor to say the least.
Even when Brian Hall was running a 4:04.3 mile in which he might well have run even faster, no lap times were announced. With many team changes, and names of reserves not given, plus incorrect result sheets, the following may not be 100% correct but are as near as can be ascertained, Lancs, were easy winners of the men's match and tied with Yorkshire in the women's.
Ron Barlow ran a fine 3 miles, Maurice Herriott was on form in the steeplechase, while in the women's events Dorothy Hyman scored her expected sprint double.
