Wallasey Athletic Club's junior athletes were in action in Chester on Saturday. Top performer was Leisel Phillips who collected two silver medals in the 100 and 200 metres, finals for-under-15 junior ladies. Her times of 13.1 and 27.4 were both personal bests and make her the fastest female athlete in the club.
However, hot on Leisel's heels in both finals was Emma Derwent who clocked 13.5 and 29.1 while Joanne Johnson clocked a creditable 30.5 in the 200 metres, and Collette Winstanley 2.41 in the 800 metres.
In the under-13 girls, there were no finalists due mainly to the fact that most of them were giving a year away in age, although performances suggest that better things can be expected next season.
Michelle Bellringer and Nicola Allen were the two fastest sprinters in both the 100 metres and 200 metres while Paula Simpson ran another fine race in the 800 metres with a time of 2:47.
Less than 24 hours after winning a dramatic race for the Wallasey inter-schools 800 metres.
Sarah Graves, Stephanie Warrington and Suzy Nuttall ran with great spirit.
