Wallasey Athletic Club was saddened this week by the news that two of its most familiar faces are to leave.
Seventeen-year-old Peter Doyle, Cheshire's 800m champion, is leaving the dub after contracting, glandular fever - a crippling illness for an athlete.
Coach Doug Hanna is also departing after a 20-year association with the club.
He is a top coach in the district, and a spokesman said he would be greatly missed by young hopefuls.
