Sefton Park Road Relay Race



In perfect conditions last Saturday afternoon, Wirral A.C. again won the Sefton Park Road Relay Race and retained the Neville White Trophy for a second year.

Green, of Wirral completed his lap of three and a quarter miles in 16 mins. 13 secs., to beat the previous lap record by 21 seconds and his team covered the Marathon distance of twenty-six and a quarter miles in 2 hours 17 minutes 17 seconds, which is also a record. Liverpool Pembroke were second and Liverpool Harriers third.

Of the ten teams which started, nine finished the course. Wallasey Athletic Club was placed fourth, pulling up from seventh place in the final stages of the race. The individual times of the Wallasey runners were D. Kelly 18.05; A. Dickinson 18.47; E. Bollard 20.06; J. Edwards 18.33; J. Rimmer 19.11; E. Foster 17.56; D. Dickinson 17.56; A. Dinsdale 17.42. Team total 2 hrs. 28 mins. 16 secs.

At the Tower Theatre on Easter Saturday, Wallasey Athletic Club is promoting the West Midlands Olympic Weight-lifting Championships in a full bill for sports fans devoted to the iron game.

The track season will start shortly and Wallasey Athletic Club has secured facilities at the Corporation playing fields between Twenty Row and the Brickworks in Leasowe Road.
