Wallasey's sports personality for 1962, and winner of the trophy donated by Mr Ernest Marples, is Kevin Mather, of the Wallasey Athletic Club.
Mather, who is aged 26 and an old boy of Oldershaw Grammar School, last year won the mile and half mile events at both the Liverpool & District and Cheshire County championships and also won a two miles invitation race at Ibrox Park, Glasgow.
He has been chosen to run the mile for Cheshire in the inter-counties championships at the White City, London, at Whit.
