Wallasey A.C. were hosts to all the Merseyside clubs last Saturday and a total of one hundred and fifty three runners were seen to be starting out from club headquarters.
The course crossed Leasowe Road into Telegraph Lane and down to the shore. The multi-coloured club vests were an impressive site. At Points along the Leasowe embankment the boys, youths and novices were dropped off and they turned for home and the traditional 'mile' break.
The seniors ran on to Meols and turned back to run behind the Burbo Camp and on to Leasowe Common. The 'mile' break began at Reeds Lane and so great was the number of runners that the police on duty had to advise them to run well left of the road. Wallasey Athletic Club wishes to thank the Police for their co operation in this event.
This Saturday there will be a club run at 3-15 p.m. from club H.Q., this will be a preliminary for the match at West Derby on October 20.
The women's section have started the netball season and played in an opening rally last Saturday.
