Last Saturday Wallasey ran 'Six' Liverpool miles at Woolton. The club lost this match scoring 123 points to Liverpool's 58 and Wirral. First man home was Jeffs of Wirral in 45 minutes 27 seconds.
Wallasey's first man home was Ian McIvor in 46:09, who finished 6th in the race. The remaining Wallasey places were J. Lynch 17th, J. Daniels 21st, H. Pritchard 23rd, W. Farrell 26th, and J. Winrow 30th. This result is not as bad as it seems as over 40 runner started.
In the youth's race Wirral A.C. beat Wallasey 21 points to 26. Liverpool scoring 39 points. Ron Barlow of Wallasey won this race easily and finished well within himself, D. White of Wallasey was third.
Today, November 3rd, the Wallasey Schoolboys and youths races are being held at Leasowe Road Playing Fields. All club members are asked to attend for officiating and marking.
At this annual event the schoolboys have very little support from parents and friends and it would be encouraging to the boys to see their parents on the course. This year 10 scholarships for one year only are to be won from the first ten boys to finish in the schoolboy race. The scholarships consist of athletic training for track running and cross-country running, whichever is preferred. If any boy misses these 10 places please write to R. Hubbard, 44, Tollemache Street, Wallasey for club membership forms.
