23 September 1972 (New)   Helen Coasts Home in Pentathlon
Wallasey Athletic Club held its annual Pentathlon competition at Woodchurch last Sunday. Club captain, Allan Cheers, won the senior men's competition with 2,662 points from five events. Bob Brimage was second, with 2,613, and Dave Lockley finished 3rd overall with 2,411 points.

21 October 1972   Promising start to cross-country season
The efforts of Wallasey Athletic Club were divided last weekend between Winsford where the boys were taking part in the Cheshire Road Relays, and Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, where the girls were having a battle over the country in the first of three Northern Cross-Country League races.

Wallasey Athletic Club's Pete Lewis was one of the three local athletes who took part last weekend in the National Indoor Championships at R.A.F. Cosford. The meeting attracted many of the big names in British athletics; including Mary Peters, Mike Bull and, Ian Stewart.
