This year's senior road relay race held as part of the Wallasey Festival of Sport was dominated by Sutton Harriers. Their 'A' team won the event from Manchester and District A.C. and Wirral A.C., and their 'B' team took the 'B' team award as well and having the fastest individual in P. Roberts.

In the Maxol Marathon, Wallasey Athletic Club's Mike Whiteside took 28th place in a field of 84 runners. Over a comparatively flat course with good competition Mike, in his first marathon, was hoping to gain a British Road Runners standard which required a time of 2 hours 40 minutes.
