Nearly 300 runners, representing 35 clubs, will fight out the Northern Senior Cross-Country Championship over a nine mile course at Radcliffe, near Oldham, to-day, the first championship to be hold since 1939. Juniors and youths' races will also be decided over six and three miles respectively.

The advantage of being able to make a fast getaway were clearly brought out at Radcliffe last Saturday, when the Northern Cross-Country Championships were held. In the senior race, of nine miles, over 200 runners faced the starter, a mass of athletes who were sent off without 'pens' or 'tapes'.
