The Newark Half Marathon started in Newark's Sconce Park, site of civil war battles, passed the Ice Age Journey dig, skirted East Stoke, site of the bloodiest civil battle, through Elston, birth place of the Darwin family and then headed back to Sconce Park. Steve Cosgrove made the trip to Nottinghamshire for the race setting a personal best of 01:34:18.
