In the senior race of the Cheshire County Championship, run over seven miles at Northwich, Bob Johnson and John McFarland of Wallasey, were placed fifth and ninth respectively.
They have now been chosen to represent Cheshire in the inter-counties championship at York on January 19.
Alan Clarke ran well to gain 42nd place, and was closely followed by Ken Ledward 46th; Bill Johnston, 48th; and John Winrow, 49th. This team also gained fifth position in the team championship which was again, won by East Cheshire Harriers.
In the Youth championship, Wallasey gained a dual victory, Don Anderson running a very strong race to finish a comfortable winner, and the club gained the team title for the second year in succession. Anderson's time of 16 min. 51 secs. was exceptionally good considering the heavy state of the course. Pratt of Stockport was second, but was closely followed by John Lynch and Roy Parry of Wallasey. Eric Maddock finished in 8th place.
Alec Lillie ran well into 13th place, and was well supported by Tom Morris and Hugh Pritchard.
