Last week's visit to Liverpool Harriers headquarters at Woolton Park did not prove to be a very profitable one for Wallasey's senior team.
Liverpool Harriers, R.A.F. West Kirby and Liverpool University fielded strong teams and occupied the first four places in the fixture. Wallasey missed their best runner, R. Johnston, who was running for the County in the Inter-County match at Aylesbury. Unfortunately, he was not able to run at his best owing to late travelling, but did well to finish as the seventh counting man for the Cheshire team.
The youths came up against heavy opposition at Court Hey, when they finished 3rd with 85 points against Liverpool Harriers youths 50 points and Eaton Hall's 74. Wallasey placings in the event were - D. Anderson 3rd, E. Maddock 5th, K. Ledward 9th, H. Foot 14th, L. Lynd 25th, J. Winrow 29th, Liverpool University second team were 4th with 988 points.
The Liverpool & District Championships are being run this Saturday from Wirral Athletic Club headquarters, Home Lane, Prenton. Members are asked to meet at the Capital Buildings at 1:15 or Charing Cross at 1:30.
