Wallasey Athletic Club members gained places in 15 of the 36 events in the Cheshire athletic championships, held at Port Sunlight, Oval, on Saturday.
Nine records were broken, and Wallasey's success in this direction came through L. Platt, who increased the long jump to 22ft. 2ins., and then carried on to equal the record of 43ft. 10½ ins. for the hop, step and jump.
Matt Smith gained first place in both the sprint high hurdles and the pole vault, as well as third place in the high jump.
Of the Wallasey girls, second place was gained by Margaret Collings in the 100 yards. Penny Price was third in the 100 yards; and Mavis Ashworth second in the high jump. Penny Price was also second in the new Royal Iris Trophy 100 metres event.
