During the match between the Northern Counties, Midland Counties and A.A.A. at Coventry last weekend (which was remarkable for the victory of the Midland team), Wallasey Athletic Club's County representative, Len Platt, achieved a distance of 45ft. 5¼ ins. to take second place in the hop, step and jump event which was won by the British Olympic jumper, S. Cross of Warwickshire.
This figure was Platt's best performance to date, and places him in the first half dozen men in the country at this event.
On Sunday morning at the clubhouse a working party will concentrate on the vital roofing work which must be completed while the fine weather lasts. Work commences at 10 a.m. and the help of members is needed.
