Fielding their strongest team this season, Wallasey Athletic Club (25 pts.), defeated Waterloo Harriers (76 pts.)., and Sefton (92 pts.) in a triangular match over 7 miles at Leasowe last Saturday afternoon.
Arnold Dinsdale (1), in fine form, reduced the course record to 41m. 23s. and was closely followed home by Denis Dickinson (2) 41m. 45s., H. Thompson (3) 42m. 04s., and Bob Johnston (4) 42m. 23s.
First men home for the opposition were Armitage (5); and Swann (6) of Waterloo. E. Foster (7) 43m. 35s. and Kelly (8) 43m. 37s. completed Wallasey's counting six.
A small youths' pack covered 3 miles.
Wallasey's senior team will be weakened in the championship season now approaching by the temporary absence in Ireland of Harold Thompson. However this month serious training is being resumed and prospective team members are asked to turn out for an evening run at least once a week.
This toughening-up is the only basis for a confident attack upon our local rivals in the District Championships at the end of the month.
For the fixture with Wirral A.C. at Holm Lane, Prenton, this afternoon, W.A.C. meet at Charing Cross Fire Station at 2:15 p.m. Club members and friends are invited to attend the whist drives run at 41 Albion Street, at 7.30 p.m. on the first Monday every month.
