Next Saturday, June 1st, Leigh Harriers hold the first open handicap meeting of the season.
There is a full programme of events for juniors, seniors and ladies, and a good afternoon's sport is anticipated. Quite a number of local athletes are competing, and Wallasey A.C. will be represented in the two miles race.
On the same day the A.A.A. are competing against the Universities Athletic Union, at Motspeer Park, and our local Olympic star, Alan Pennington, will be representing the A.A.A. in the 220 yds.
For today's match at Port Sunlight, Wallasey A.C. have provisionally chosen the following team. - Hammer: Dr. McFarlene and G. Mason. Discus: J. McFarlin and T. Wess. Pole vault: V. Tindall and E. B. Jones, Long jump; V. Tindall and B. Kivlin, 880 yards Relay, from: B. Kivlin, H. Lutas, K. Murdock, J. Rennie and V. Tindall; Three mile team race, from: J. M. Byrne, J. Edwards, R. F. Hubbard, J. Rice and G. K. Williams.
