The first annual general meeting of this club was held at the headquarters, Oarside Farm on Wednesday evening week. Mr. Lace (sub-captain) was in the chair, in the absence of Mr. F. C. O'Connell (president), who was unfortunately not able to be present.
The meeting was well attended, prospective members especially being very conspicuous. The hon. secretary first gave his report, in which he pointed out the great increase to membership, At the end of last season the club as it then was, had no more than twelve members. Since then it had established itself under its present name, and thanks to those members who had been working during the summer in making it known it now had a membership of 28, with every possibility of more. They had recently become members of the Liverpool & District Cross-country Association, and hoped to be able to run a strong team at the annual race which would be held towards the close of the season. The club was commencing its first season under exceptionally favourable auspices. The greatest enthusiasm characterised all the officers of the club whilst in its president and vice-president (Messrs. F. C. O'Connell and W. D. Band respectively) they had two gentlemen notable for their past experiences and unflagging interest in the sport, and who were taking an active part in the establishment of the club. He closed his remarks with a hope that the members would do their best in making the existence of the club well known, adding that if they did so, what with their excellent headquarters, so well situated on the edge of the country, there was no reason why the club should not take its place, not only as the foremost in the district, but as one of the strongest in the country.
All those who wish to become members of the club are requested to communicate with the secretary, R. Young, 19, Devonshire Road.
