Harrier Notes

Homecroft Athletic Club set the ball rolling last Saturday, when they opened the season with an easy spin over a course of about five miles.

They had a good muster, and the weather was all that could be desired; there was but one thing lacking, and that was a display of the club colours, but now that it has been decided that they shall be pale blue with red trimmings and sash, future turnouts will doubtless be more picturesque.

A considerable number of spectators watched the start from Manor-road, the pack going by way of Mill-lane, then turning across the fields to the right they skirted Wallasey Village via Claremont-road, and made for the shore, returning home past the Red Noses, up Rowson-street, and along Seabank-road, where, of course, the pace became warmer, the first six placings being as follow:-W. S. Brookes, S. Gilbertson, T. J. Brookes, E. Lawton, T. Lyall, and S. L. Brookes. The next run will be held on Saturday afternoon from the headquarters, Manor-road. A start is to be effected at 3.30 prompt, and all prospective members are invited.

It has been proposed that the club should organise week-night runs as training for footballers, and Tuesday night has been suggested as suitable for the purpose. The football fraternity in this district is certainly strong, and such an idea if carried out will most assuredly be a welcome innovation, and should be of sovereign service in helping to strengthen the bonds of friendliness and sportsmanship between the many clubs our district contains. Full particulars may be obtained from the hon. secretary, who earnestly invites the cooperation of the various F.C. secretaries in the movement.
