The first race of the season was held last Saturday, the event being as usual the five mile handicap.
Owing to its taking place somewhat earlier than usual the turn-out was not so great as might have been expected, in the absence of E. Plant, E. Bale (off 1.20) was virtual scratch man and recorded the fastest time in 30min. 50sec., finishing third in the race. A. G. Scoins (2.40) was first man home, doing a very creditable performance in 30min. 58sec. T. Hughes took second place in 31min. 50sec.
To-day there is an inter-club run with Liverpool Richmond, Boundary and West Cheshire from the Grove Hotel, Wallasey.
