The members of the New Brighton Athletic Club held a very successful whist drive and dance at the Grosvenor Assembly Rooms on Saturday, in which no fewer than 260 ladies and gentlemen took part.
The arrangements of Mr. H. R. Scoins (secretary) and the members made the affair a complete success, and the guests spent a very enjoyable evening. The following were the prize-winners: - Ladies: 1, Miss E. Parker (silver-plated tea set, presented by the members of the club); 2, Miss Quayle (enlarged portrait); 3, Miss Cox (vacuum flask); 4, Miss Burn (ornamental kettle); 5, Miss Hollins (box of fancy goods). Gentlemen; 1, Mr. Oliver (cigar cabinet); 2, Mr. Tilley (attaché case); 3, Mr. Trenchant (collar box); 4, Mr. McMasters (case of razors). The M.C.'s were Messrs. J. H. Haygarth, H. R. Scoins, and S. Parker Smith.
