The Headquarters of the above club last Saturday presented a very animated appearance. The occasion was a three-cornered contest between the local club, Ravenhead (St. Helens) Harriers and Gordon Harriers, of Liverpool.
Altogether between fifty and sixty runners took part. The St. Helens men did not arrive until after four o'clock so only a short course of about six miles was taken, the homeward journey being across the golf links and along the shore to Sea-road, where the men lined up for a race home. The result of this was that Wallasey won handsomely, placing five out of the first six men .home. The placings were as follows:- Wallasey: A. G. Nicholson, 1; E. Plant. 3; C. H. Spence, 4; W. J. Penfold, 5; E. S. Bale, 6; H. S. Mellander, 12; total, 31 points. Ravenhead totalled 57 points and Gordon 101 points.
To-day there is a run from Upton (Eagle & Crown Hotel). Meet at Liscard and Poulton Station in time to catch the 3.29 train. After the run tea will be served and this will be followed by a sing song.
Tickets, 2s. each, are now available for the whist drive and dance which is to be held at the Grosvenor Assembly Rooms, Liscard, on Thursday, November 3rd. They may be obtained from members of the club or from the Keeper, Fairhaven Institute, Seaview-road.
