The fixture for last Saturday (the novice championship) was one which had been looked forward to for some time, and owing to the large number of novices who have displayed good form it was expected to be a very keen race.
Thirty-one runners turned out, composed of 14 seniors who preceded the race, and 17 novices. Unfortunately, however, owing to some Boy Scouts interfering with the trail the pack went wrong between Bidston and Upton. This was all the more disappointing as up till then it was evident that there would be a very close finish, and it would have taken a wise man to have picked the winner so well were the first half dozen running.
The inter-club run with Wirral next Saturday has been postponed, to enable the race to be re-run. Trail will be laid by the seniors, who will also act as stewards on the course.
