Next Saturday, June 22nd, the club will hold a sports meeting at the festival ground, Leasowe-road, commencing at 3 p.m.
All types of athletes from sprinters to distance runners will be catered for as the six events comprise: 1,100 yards championship; 2, 100 yards handicap; 3, one lap handicap (about 300 yards) ; 4, three laps handicap; 5, 10 laps handicap; 6, one lap novelty race (scratch).
Entries are free but restricted to members of Wallasey A.C.
Temporary membership of the club for the summer season can be obtained, however, by enclosing a nominal subscription of 6d. along with the completed entry form.
Further information may be obtained from the general secretary, Mr. R. G. Hyde, 14 Cromer-drive, or the track secretary, Mr. D. Irving.
The tit-bit of the meeting should prove to be the 100 yards championship, where the expected clash between the A.A.A. 100 yards and 220 yards Junior Champion, A. Pennington, and the ex-A.A.A. 100 yards and 220 yards Junior Champion. J. S. K. Glover, should produce a great race. The former is holder also of the Public Schools' 100 yards Championship while the latter is the present N.C.A.A, 400 yards Junior Champion.
Training facilities are now available every Tuesday and Thursday evenings on the cricket field in Harrison Park from 8-30 p.m. onwards.
New members are especially welcome.
