The Cheshire County team which competed in the inter-county championships at White City, London, last week-end, included three members of Wallasey Athletic Club. L. H. Platt represented the county in the hop, step and jump, R. H. Owen in the shot and discus, and M. W. Smith in the pole vault. Len Platt excelled himself by covering 44 feet 3 inches to gain second place in the event, thus proving himself to be the second best in England - a great performance. This is the first time that Cheshire have won so high a place in any event. With expert coaching Len should soon improve on this performance and gain many honours for himself and the club during the coming season. Ray Owen and Matt Smith both deserve praise for their efforts, even though they were unplaced in the events, for to have been chosen as representatives of the county is an honour which few achieve.
