What is said to be the closest finish in the history of the Wallasey Athletic Club Novice Championship was witnessed at Leasowe Road last Saturday when D. Anderson and R. Fullerton crossed the finishing line so close together that the time-keepers could not separate them.
D. Anderson was awarded the race by the judges and both runners were credited with the time of 33 minutes, 8 secs. D. B. Johnson was third in 34.44. Other placings were, 4th, W. Cockshott 34.59, 5th T. Morris 35.15, A. J. N. Clark. 36.10.
This week the club entertains Liverpool Harriers at Leasowe Road. The race commences at 3 o'clock prompt.
Women's Section.-The netball team had their first fixture of the season last Saturday against St. Joseph's, and were narrowly defeated in a very hotly contested game by 17 goals to 14.
