A number of changes in the administration of Wallasey Athletic Club resulted from the elections at the A.G.M. held in the Punch & Judy Café last Friday. New officers are hon. treasurer, A Dickinson; vice-captain, E. C. Foster; junior captain, A. Simpson; youths' captain R. Johnston, and committee member, W. R. Bee.
Mr A. G. Nicholson, chairman at the meeting, was unanimously re-elected president of the club, whilst Mr. C. Humphrey was elected a vice-president to fill, the vacancy caused by the death of Alderman Millward. The meeting stood for a few moments in respectful memory of Alderman Millward and his energetic efforts on behalf of local athletics.
The hon. secretary and his assistant, R. F. Hubbard, and J. M. Rimmer were re-elected with acclamation; B. O. Kivlin continues as track secretary, and J. Edwards was voted as club captain for the third successive year. Hard-working C. R. Hewson was re-elected as a committee member, the only one of four to retain his place in very keen voting.
G. Mason (hon. treasurer), J. S. Arkless (vice-captain) and J. A. Richardson (committee) were all unable, for business reasons, to seek re-election, but the first two were elected to the committee.
The opening run of the cross-country season was held from Leasowe Road last Saturday. Seniors covered about five miles and Youths three at a slow pace. Runs will be held every Saturday and inquiries re membership should be made to the hon. secretary, R. F. Hubbard, 39 Beech Road, Birkenhead (telephone Birkenhead 3550).
