In the first match of the season Wallasey were beaten by 14 points, R.A.F. West Kirby scoring 37 to Wallasey's 23.
Wallasey obtained 3 1sts, 5 2nds and 3 3rds. R.A.F. obtained 6 1sts., 4 2nds and 5 3rds.
Thus Wallasey's team will strive for greater efforts in their next match v Sefton at Leasowe Road next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
John Lynch finished 30th in the Pembroke 20-mile road race. He had acute leg cramp at 17 miles and at that period was lying 18th. He carried on at a slower pace and finished 30th.
At the U.A.U. championships Miss Penny Price was placed 3rd in the 100 and 220 yards., and is competing today at the inter-county championships. Miss Price is to be congratulated on her two placings in the sprints
Meetings to be held in the near future are - Cheshire Championships at Stockport, June 1st. Liverpool Parks inter-club at Garston, June 4th, Liverpool Police at Fairfield. June 8th. Closing date for entries. May 27th.
The ground at Leasowe Road is open as follows : - Mondays to Thursdays 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays. 2 to 5 p.m.
Members are urged to make use of these facilities. The track is now laid, and jumping pits and impedimenta for all events is available.
