W.R.A.C. Second Lieutenant Penny Price, daughter of Commander L. D. Price, Ferries general manager, and Mrs. Price, brought the sprint "double" in the inter-services athletics match at Uxbridge.
She was also second in the long jump, and her all round prowess placed a considerable part in enabling the Women's Royal Army Corps. to win the Women's Inter-Service Shield for the first time since 1951.
On the same day, Penny shot for Cheshire in the long range inter-counties match at Bisley. The only woman in the Cheshire team she recorded the second highest score tor the county.
