Lancaster Harriers & Athletic Club gained signal success at the West Lancashire Novice Championship held Newton-le-Willows on Saturday.
With 31 points their team won the championship of 120 runners, representing 15 teams. Wallasey Harriers were second with 46 points and Sefton Harriers were third with 76 points.
J. Daniels, of Pilkington Recs. Harriers was the winner covering the two laps of two miles
each in 29 minutes 15 seconds. The going was heavy and included 300 yards of ploughed land on each lap.
W. Swarbrick, of Lancaster Freehold Harriers was third but the runner who filled the second position received the unplaced medal. Lancaster Primrose, the champions, finished in the sixth place with Lancaster Freehold seventh.
J. Plumbley, acting captain of the Lancaster Harriers team, was presented with the championship cup by W. Worsley the President of the Cross-Country Union.
