The Wallasey Harriers annual 5 mile novice race was held on Saturday, the 8th. The trail was laid by B. Young and Gavin over difficult country the marshes being like a quagmire.
Supporters of the Club were pleased to see several new members turn out for the race. The first man home was J Clee (time 31½ minutes), followed closely by D. A. J. Seddon and W. G. Williams. Seddon had hard luck in not winning the race. He stopped to help a competitor who was stuck in a ditch. This delayed him about a minute, with which margin in his favour he would have won the race easily. Mr. W. S. Brookes judged the race, and also presented the winner and second man each with a handsome silver medal.
To-day (Saturday) the Club will run with the Sefton Juniors, at Sefton. Members meet outside Liverpool Town Hall at 2-15 sharp.
