Today Wallasey Athletic Club promote the 1966 Wallasey Schools' Cross-Country Championships at Leasowe Road playing fields. The first race, scheduled for 1.15 p.m. is the youths' championship for boys, aged 15 to 18 over a three-mile course and is for individual honours and not a team race.
At 2.45 p.m. there is an open race for girls which is not a championship event, but should attract a good entry. The girls have 1½ miles to run, the same distance as the junior boys who follow them at 1.10 p.m.
This race should have the largest field of the day and is both a team and individual event with the first four boys from each school counting for their team.
The fourth and final race starts at 3.30 p.m. and is for senior boys over a two-mile course. Once again the conditions are the same as for the junior boys race and all competitors are requested to be ready for their respective events 15 minutes before the start.
